It looks like the summer months are here! Throughout May, we had a great time trolling for the resident rock. As always, some days were better than others, but I do have to day when it was good, it was really good! Over the last week or so, we have been contending with skate, but they will be gone soon. With the reports of smaller fish (croaker, spot, and perch), I am changing over to the summer fishing rigs with lighter tackle, live wells, bait trays etc. I am sure we will be live lining before too long. There are no signs of bluefish yet, but they will be here soon.

This is a great time of year to catch rockfish. The trophy season ended on May 15 and now, the next phase begins. The big spawning rock have left the bay and now, the younger, resident fish are taking over. The limit has increased to two fish and they are starting to school up. For the next month or so, we will concentrate on catching them by both trolling and chumming. It is always alot of fun to troll through a school of these fish with a bunch of rods out. There is nothing like being out on the bay on a beautiful spring day when the fishing is good.
